Shakmods Pre-Braided Cables Review - 2
The extension cables obviously leave you with one problem compared to sleeving your own PSU's cables - you'll need to hide the latter. At the moment, Shakmods only offers 30cm extension cables and this might mean they don't quite reach from your hardware to whatever hideaway you've chosen for your PSU's unsightly cables. It's worth measuring up beforehand to make sure.

The connectors themselves are of high quality and we had no issues plugging them in to our PSU's existing cabling, unlike some cheap molex connectors you often come across. Thanks to the stiffness of the braid, using it yourself to sleeve your own cables is very easy indeed as the braid holds it's tubular shape and is very inflexible so it doesn't cling to the cables.

Something that you'll probably have come across if you've ever used braiding is that the normal paracord stuff can stretch and compress leaving lumps and skinny sections in your lengths of cables. Amazingly, the Shakmods stuff is almost spring-like in returning to its original shape if you stretch or compress it too far. This should mean that you're left with very uniform cables - this certainly seems to be the case on the samples we've received.

Conclusion
Despite their cost, as we mentioned at the start, braiding your own cables can be very time consuming. Getting it right first time is another challenge and you're still looking at a bill of over £20 once you've factored in the cost of a cable removing kit, braid and heatshrink. Shakmods offers an easy way to have a pro-look and offer the benefit of customisation too - our two-colour samples look fantastic.
We'd still recommend you give cable braiding a go, but if the thought of spending hours removing pins and chopping up bits of braiding doesn't fill you with joy, then Shakmods' pre-braided cables are the best we've seen.
